Programme Management Unit (PMU) to Monitor Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) schemes of Bihar Urban Development Agency (BUDA) under Urban Development & Housing Department of Govt. of Bihar, India
Roles and Responsibilities:
Urban Slum Resettlement & Social development specialist responsible for: the overall resettlement/ relocation and social development activities; Implementation of Land Acquisition Act; strengthening and empowerment of local communities' social development; and community participation and urban poverty alleviation.
• Assisted Bihar Urban Development Agency (BUDA), Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and NGO in establishing effective planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure that compensation, relocation and income generation measures are duly carried out during the resettlement/ relocation process.
• Designed resettlement/relocation plan for the urban slum, to make city/town slum free, under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP)/Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSUP) schemes.

• Developing and implementing participatory intervention strategies to engage stakeholders.

Oversaw the implementation of TAHA projects in six districts in M.P. in close coordination with six non-governmental organizations. Responsibilities included:
• Identifying 10 rural geographical sites in each of the six districts based on the criteria of high migration rates and the possibility for trafficking.
• Training 6 non-government organization teams in Participatory Livelihood Assessment (PLA) techniques.
• Conducting district level workshop to build rapport and gain buy-in from all stakeholders.
• Setting up the first of its kind single-window referral system to help the target community as well as the surrounding community.
• Overseeing six 5-day Rural Livelihood Enhancement Programs to identify potential entrepreneurs.

The project took place for 8-months, resulted in more than 130 new entrepreneurs - nearly one-third of those being females, and leveraged funds of nearly 40 lakhs.
