Professional Experience

1. Micronutrient Initiative India
Divisional Coordinator – Consultant (Zinc Alleviation Programme – Gujarat) (April 2011 – July 2012)

• Facilitated trainings for all Health & ICDS Personnel (Top to Bottom) under Zinc Alleviation program for assigned Districts of Gujarat through contracted NGO’s.

• Support to RCH Officers for implementation of Program and Supportive Supervision of all Health Institutions in the Districts.

• Serving as subject matter expert on Diarrohea and its management, including Zinc & ORS.

• Promotion of Zinc for treatment of Diarrohea among 2 months up to 5 years of children.

• Advocacy & Planning Scale up of Zinc for reduction of IMR at various levels.

• Planning & implementing supply chain protocols for the programme and Supportive Supervision.

• Participation in other Child Survival Interventions and on hand support at various level on documentation and reporting.

• Participation in budgeting and support in preparation of PIP under NRHM to assigned districts focused on prioritizing Diarrohea Management and child survival programs.

• Involved in continuous Capacity Reorientation and Health & ICDS Personnel (MO’s, Supervisors and Periphery staff)

2. Dept. of Health & Family Welfare (NRHM) (Govt. of CG)
District Programme Manager (National Rural Health Mission)- Bijapur Chhattisgarh (May 2010 – March 2011)

• Implemented ASHA program for 868 ASHAs and completion of 87 %all the trainings within budgetary norms and procedures.

• Implementing WHO Protocols with support from District Admin. & International Organizations in Naxal affected areas – Medical Emergencies (Severe Diarrohea), with setting up of Diarrohea Treatment Centres in most difficult locations of the district.

• Management of 44 staff of different health programs & NRHM.

• Improved Routine Immunization in hard to reach areas and decrease in drop outs and wastage factor and support in implementing Measles Campaign with no lacunas and completing 60% of target in hard to reach areas. Coordinated NRHM trainings – SBA, BMOEC, IMNCI etc.

• Support in successful implementation of Community Outreach Program to address – RNTCP & Leprosy in hard to reach areas and successfully implemented Eye Operations under NPCB Program and 987 beneficiaries of Cataract were treated. (Top in Chhattisgarh State in 2010)

• Support in successful implementation of targeted distribution and follow up of 74% ITBN in remotest parts of the District under NVBDCP and UNICEF and support in planning and implementation of School health programme resulting lesser drop outs during peak seasons due to diarrohea and other communicable diseases.

• Setting up of Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre and Support in functioning with 10 Beds at District Hospital and setting up of OT, BSU and its sustainable functioning protocols with MSF Holland and District Administration also setting up of Class of art Incinerator (Waste Disposable Units) in 2 Hospitals with technical support from MSF Belgium and DRDA.

• Successfully implemented tasks as assigned by the District Collector and acted positively with all challenges in hurdles in the most difficult district of the State (Active participation in decision making process and planning “out of the box” processes for the district)

3. UNICEF-WCD – Chattisgarh for Nutrition Surveillance Program (NSS)(Govt. of CG)
District Extender (Capacity Building) – (UNICEF-WCD) Dantewada & Bijapur Districts. (June 2008 – April 2010)

• Planning, implementing & monitoring – MIS & GIS of Nutrition Surveillance with WCD.

• Capacity Building – Nutrition & Health including (Child Survival Basics, IMNCI, RI & VAS, WHO Growth Standards, IYCF & Nutrition Surveillance) of all the functionaries of ICDS & Health Dept. & Full utilization of Budget for all the trainings with 85% coverage of AWWs.

• Facilitation of information sharing between ICDS & Health at each level (Village, Block & District) on MCH and malnutrition.

• Facilitated Community Feeding Centres at IDP (Integrated Development Program for migrated naxal affected population) camps.

• Use of data for corrective actions and planning interventions for hard-to-reach areas.

• Active participation in appraisal and planning interventions for hard-to-reach areas with District Collectors of both the districts and coordination between other International Partners in effective and sustainable implementation strategies (including WHO, MSF Belgium & ICRC) in both the districts.

• Made 70% sustainable units reporting on various indicators and usage of data for planning effectively for lacking units.

• Implementing other programmes related to child survival in hard-to-reach areas including (Exclusive Breastfeeding Promotion & IMNCI). support in VAS Programme & coordination with Micronutrient Initiative, UNICEF & concerned Dept. at District & State.

4. A.N.W.C. (Asha Niketan Welfare Centre) M.P.
Project Manager – Child Focused Community Development Program (HCDI-KNH Germany) (May 2006 –May 2008)

• Overall management of Population Health & Environment Programme.

• Main components of the program were – Livelihood promotion through IGA, Natural Resource Management, Community Organization, Health and Nutrition & Education.

• Linkages of Community Organizations with Govt. Aided programs and with Banks for Income generation programs. (130 successful linkages with various agencies)

• Support to TSC activities for district level planning for Bhopal, Sehore & Hoshangabad districts of Madhya Pradesh. (227 units of toilets construction and 163 sustained)

• Watershed Development Program – Planned & Implemented (8 Big earthen dams, 6 small earthen dams, other works under watershed) This was done with 100% participation of villagers and in a sustainable model.

• Overall functioning of 15 ECCE centres linked with SHG’s and implementing nutrition and health services at these centres with Mobile Health Unit. Breastfeeding Promotion Campaigning and support in improvement of RI and Vit. A programs in the project area.

• Participatory management of DFL and 13000 tree plantation with 67% sustained.
